Middle School Academy Summer Institute Coordinator

The TEAK Fellowship is a ten-year enrichment program that offers New York City students from under-resourced communities intensive after-school and summer academic classes, transformational cultural experiences, secondary school, and college guidance, a vibrant internship program, and robust support system. TEAK students earn admission/financial aid at our Nation’s most prestigious academic institutions and graduate from them determined to make an impact on communities in need of their contributions and leadership.  

 


 

TEAK Fellowship is looking for experienced middle and high school teachers to teach Pre-Algebra during Summer Institute 2023. Instructors will work collaboratively as part of teaching teams responsible for providing the curriculum structure established by TEAK. This summer instructors will teach approximately 2-3 sections of ~15 students four times a week, Monday – Thursday, from July 5 – Aug 9 2023 at The Browning School in Manhattan.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Teach 2-3 sections to rising 7th or 9th graders July through August 2023.
  • Provide classroom supervision and one hour of instruction Monday – Thursday.
  • Attend instructor orientation June 28 + 29 at the Browning School.
  • Attend faculty meetings 1x a week on Wednesday during the summer.
  • Participate in a plus 1 assignment (run a club, go on field trips, monitor lunch/recess/study hall) during the summer.
  • Use Google Classroom and assign between 30-40 minutes of homework daily. Collect and grade Fellow homework.
  • Provide midterm and final grades, including writing student comments.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Commitment to TEAK’s mission of educational access and success for underrepresented populations
  • High School Diploma required, Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree earned or in process
  • Ability to interact with all of TEAK’s constituents from students and Fellows and families
  • Strong sense of urgency and high detail orientation
  • Proactive team player with the ability to be flexible in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to work 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday; additional hours as needed
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Bengali is preferred

 

Salary
