TEAK is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Student Growth/Site Manager to join the Middle School Academy team. This person will provide students (Fellows) academic and social-emotional growth and support under the guidance of the Senior Director of Middle School Academy and the Director of Student Growth. This position reports to the Senior Director of Middle School Academy.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Management and Student Growth

  • Serve as the point of contact for all constituents related to the student, including parents, teachers, advisors, TEAK mentors, guidance counselors, and program partners to ensure Fellows’ academic success at school.
  • Provide the appropriate academic, social, and mental health support for middle school Fellows.
  • TEAK afterschool programming is held at off-sites in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens twice a week from  September – to April, and the site manager would be responsible for one off-site location.
  • Participate on occasional Saturdays and evenings in middle school programming for Fellows and families, including the mentor program, TEAK Parents’ Association, service learning, and other co-curricular experiences.
  • Utilize TEAK’s student relationship management system (Salesforce) to maintain up-to-date student records for attendance, grade management, student engagement, and growth.
  • Serve in an administrative and/or teaching role at TEAK’s Middle School Academy and Summer Institute.
  • Teach TEAK signature courses such as “TEAK Foundations” and “Leadership Seminar”.
  • Assist in the planning and management of TEAK’s Middle School Academy Cultural Events.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of High School Placement and Director of Admissions.
  • Participate in or lead staff or student-related ad-hoc projects or committees.

 

Qualifications

  • Commitment to TEAK’s mission of educational access and success for underrepresented populations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least one year of professional experience/training in nonprofit work (youth development) and/or education (K-8 teaching).
  • Ability to interact with TEAK’s prospective students, families, school partners, and CBOs.
  • Travel throughout the five boroughs.
  • Availability to work until 6:30 PM 2x a week and 1-2 Saturdays a month during the school year.
  • Strong administrative, written, and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
  • Proactive team player with the ability to be flexible in a fast-moving environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Bengali is preferred.
