Interim Assistant Director of Student Growth/ Site Manager

The TEAK Fellowship is a ten-year enrichment program that offers New York City students from under-resourced communities intensive after-school and summer academic classes, transformational cultural experiences, secondary school, and college guidance, a vibrant internship program, and robust support system. TEAK students earn admission/financial aid at our Nation’s most prestigious academic institutions and graduate from them determined to make an impact on communities in need of their contributions and leadership.  

 


TEAK is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Growth/Site Manager to join the Middle School Academy team as a 6-month leave replacement. This person will provide students (Fellows) with academic and social-emotional growth and support under the guidance of the Senior Director of Middle School Academy. 
 

The Assistant Director of Student Growth will collaborate closely with TEAK’s talented students and supportive families and play a critical role in our dynamic Middle School Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of TEAK’s growth and success as we approach our 26th year of serving some of the best and brightest NYC students. Candidates should have a passion for educational equity, a love of working with exceptional young people, and a desire to join a like-minded, committed, diverse team of educators.  
 

Key Responsibilities

Program Management and Student Growth

• Serve as a member of the Middle School Academy team focused on providing academic, social, and mental health support for TEAK middle school Fellows.
• Participate as TEAK staff during the 6-week Summer Institute program
• Serve as TEAK Dean for all 7th and 8th grade Fellows and Bronx off-site director during the Fall semester.
• Work with TEAK Fellows, including parents, guidance counselors, TEAK instructors, and school partners, to ensure Fellow success in TEAK.
• Participate in occasional Saturdays and evening programming for Fellows and families, including the mentor program, TEAK Parents’ Association, service learning, and other co-curricular experiences.
• Utilize TEAK’s student relationship management system (Salesforce) to maintain up-to-date student records for attendance, grade management, student engagement, and growth.
 

Other Responsibilities

• Assist students in caseload with high school applications under the supervision of the Director of High School Placement.
• Participate in or lead staff or student-related ad-hoc projects or committees.
 

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least one year of professional experience/training in nonprofit work (youth development) and/or education (K-8 teaching).
• Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs.
• Availability to work 8:00-4:00 during our 6-week Summer Institute.
• Availability to work until 6:30 PM twice a week and 1-2 Saturdays a month from September through December.
• Strong administrative, written, and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
• Proactive team player with the ability to be flexible and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
• Commitment to TEAK’s mission of educational access and success for underrepresented populations.
 

Desirable Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, and/or Bengali
• Proficiency with GSuite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides)
• Familiarity/proficiency with Salesforce
 

Start Date: June 2024
 

Salary & Benefits:Salary in the range of $55,000-70,000 is commensurate with experience and education. In addition to two remote days each week, TEAK offers generous benefits, vacation, and retirement packages.
