By making a gift to The TEAK Fellowship, you are supporting our city’s most motivated young people who share a vision for their lives that includes an education second to none and an opportunity to make a disproportionate impact on the communities in which they find themselves. We hope you will consider making a year-end contribution. Together, we can transform lives and lift communities.

DONATE & FUEL FUTURE TEAK LEADERS

The TEAK Fellowship is a free 10-year middle school, high school, and college prep, access, and success program in New York City. TEAK empowers exceptional students from low-income families to achieve their potential regardless of their economic circumstances.

TEAK’s robust support system ensures that students thrive in top independent and selective high schools, and graduate from college, ready to pursue their professional goals and positively impact the world. Since 1998, every single Fellow has matriculated to four-year colleges; of these, 89% have entered top-tier schools, averaging 30% into the Ivy League each year.

1. TEAK makes a 10-year commitment to its students and families, supporting them beginning in seventh grade all the way through college graduation.

2. Each TEAK Fellow is assigned a TEAK Dean, a full-time staff member who serves as an advisor, advocate, and liaison between the student and their school. This individualized attention and one-on-one relationship ensures Fellows have the support they need to thrive.

3. Through our four core values of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, and Fellowship, TEAK invests in the whole child, nurturing their development in the classroom and out in the community.

4. TEAK exposes Fellows to the arts and culture by hosting monthly outings to Broadway plays, dance performances, movie screenings, museums, art classes, and more. All TEAK Fellows participate in Shakespeare and theater classes during their Middle School Summer Institutes, sparking creativity and equipping them with public speaking skills and self-confidence.

5. TEAK offers swimming lessons to Middle School Fellows to help them gain an important life skill that is often required for high school graduation.

6. TEAK’s robust curriculum includes STEM programming, with Middle School Fellows taking coding courses over the summer or during the school year and participating in optional robotics clubs.

7. Through the TEAK Family Collaborative (TFC), TEAK provides services and support to parents of students enrolled in the Program. The TFC hosts meetings and workshops on topics ranging from supporting students’ through times of stress to purchasing a home.

8. TEAK introduces career exposure and exploration beginning in middle school and increasingly through the high school and college years. Fellows visit companies such as Google, CHANEL, and Microsoft and gain access to paid internships at public and private sector organizations.

9. TEAK works closely with Fellows and families to ensure they gain admission to their best-fit high schools and colleges and receive the financial aid and awards needed to graduate with minimal to no debt. On average, TEAK Fellows have over 90% of high school and college costs covered by aid and awards.

10. TEAK invests in the social emotional wellbeing of students by offering access to free counseling through a partnership with the Training Institute for Mental Health. Additionally, TEAK has a full-time Director of Counseling on staff to oversee social emotional learning and support for Fellows and pairs every incoming seventh grade Fellow with a volunteer adult mentor who serves as a positive role model, advocate, and friend.
