Board of Director News

After serving for 18 years as a founding trustee on the TEAK Fellowship Board of Directors, Jackie Dyer stepped down from board service in 2016. Jackie is the mother of Teak Dyer (1970 – 1988) who was the childhood best friend of The TEAK Fellowship founder, Justine Stamen Arrillaga. Jackie almost never missed a board meeting or a Jubilee in 18 years and flew from her home in California to be with the students as often as she could. For the first ten years, Jackie read every TEAK Fellow’s application and made a point of knowing each student that became a part of the Fellowship. She remains an ambassador for the Fellowship that carries her daughter’s name.

Robert (Bob) W. Reeder III also stepped down from TEAK’s board at the end of the year after serving in numerous capacities including most recently as Secretary. As a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell, Bob brought his legal expertise to the board as well as his passion for helping underserved students reach their full potential. Bob made certain that he met every Fellow from every class and had a nearly perfect attendance at board meetings and TEAK functions over the past 18 years. Bob was instrumental in helping TEAK build its endowment and was committed to ensuring that TEAK would remain a sustainable organization.

As we bid farewell to TEAK’s longtime trustees, we welcomed four new members to the board: Catherine Clarkin, Matthew Stopnik, Amran Hussein, and Paul Spivey. We look forward to working with this group of volunteers and are certain that they will bring tremendous value to TEAK.

Additionally, board leadership changes in 2017 include:

Marc Becker, Board Chair

Joan Lonergan, Vice-Chair

Catherine Clarkin, Treasurer

Christopher Lanning, Secretary
