Volunteer Opportunities
In addition to helping students to gain access to the nation’s most prestigious high schools and colleges — TEAK connects its Fellows with adult mentors, professional coaches, internships, and other volunteer engagement opportunities. These programs give individuals and companies the chance to get to know TEAK Fellows and to help them on their journey toward success. mentor
Our popular Mentor Program connects each 7th grade student with a volunteer adult mentor who serves as a positive role model, advocate, and friend for the duration of the middle school years at TEAK — a two-year commitment that can leave a lasting impression.
PROFESSIONAL COACH MENTOR
Our Professional Coach Mentor Program matches volunteers with TEAK college sophomores in an ongoing, virtual mentoring relationship. This is an exciting opportunity to offer your industry insight and advice and to serve as a resource and guide to college Fellows as they begin to define and navigate their professional goals and build their network.

SERVE ON A CAREER PANEL
Represent your industry and deliver insight into your field to a mid-sized group of TEAK Fellows. Answer questions, provide advice, and help students understand the potential options available to them. This is a 1 – 2 hour commitment either at the TEAK office or on-site at a partner company.
HOST A CAREER IMMERSION POWER LUNCH
These visits provide intentional opportunities for our TEAK Fellows to visit companies, meet and network with professionals from diverse backgrounds and roles as well as acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for professional and personal growth. During these programs, company volunteers work one-on-one and in small groups with our Fellows to enhance their career readiness and exposure to opportunities and professionals within the industry.
These programs provide a mutually beneficial and impactful experience for companies and employees. Partners are able to begin to develop a pipeline for the next generation of diverse talent for the industry, impact the personal and professional development of TEAK Fellows, and empower Fellows to visualize career pathways they previously were not aware of or thought as unattainable.
HIRE AN INTERN
Internship experiences are vital to a well-rounded education and provide students with the opportunity to learn and grow in fast-paced, real-world environments.
WORKPLACE EVENTS
Volunteer events provide opportunities for individuals to support TEAK in meaningful ways. Volunteers often work one-on-one and in small groups with our Fellows to enhance their confidence, build their leadership and professional skills, and offer exposure to opportunities and professionals within the industry. Opportunities include:
Mock Interviews – Volunteers conduct 1:1 mock admissions interviews with students in order to prepare them to be successful in sharing their stories and talking about their skills and accomplishments during their high school and college admissions process.
Care Packages, Backpack Assembly, and Career Conversations – Throughout the year, volunteers assemble backpacks for new TEAK Fellows, and care packages for our current high school and college Fellows. Following the backpack assembly, volunteers have the opportunity to meet and connect with TEAK Fellows and share about their college and career journeys.
Resume Review & Personal Branding – Volunteers work 1:1 and in small groups with students supporting them in defining their personal brand, practicing their personal elevator pitches, and reviewing and editing their resumes.
