Dear Friends, Supporters, and Partners of TEAK,
With both sadness and gratitude, I write to announce that The TEAK Fellowship’s Executive Director, John Green, will be retiring this May.
John has been a friend and ally to TEAK since its inception in 1998. During his tenure as the Head of The Peddie School in New Jersey, he admitted high school students from the earliest classes of Fellows and developed a lifelong passion for TEAK. With an unrelenting desire to fulfill TEAK’s mission to provide educational access to the best and brightest scholars in NYC, he took the helm at The TEAK Fellowship in 2015.
Under John’s leadership these past six years, TEAK has strengthened and diversified its staff and board while enhancing and lengthening programming for our Fellows. He has also been instrumental in writing the next chapter of TEAK’s evolution, working with the Board of Directors and staff to develop and fund a strategic plan to grow the Fellowship by 50% over a ten year period. These are just a few of John’s contributions that will carry on well after his departure.
John is a person of wisdom, integrity, patience, and kindness. Our Fellows, the staff, and the board will miss him greatly. John leaves TEAK in a very strong position for continued success, and we sincerely thank him for his contribution, dedication, and leadership. The Board wishes John and his wife Alison the very best in their future endeavors, which will include moving north to spend more time with family, including their five grandchildren.
The Board of Directors has formed a search committee and has retained Spencer Stuart to identify our next Executive Director. We are confident that John along with the staff will make this a smooth transition for our Fellows and families, supporters, and partners.
Thanks to John’s leadership and our excellent staff along with the stewardship of a passionate Board of Trustees, TEAK has never been stronger and the best is yet to come. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or one of my fellow board members.
Sincerely,
Marc Becker
Board Chair
