
Summer Institute Instructor
The TEAK Fellowship is a ten-year enrichment program that offers New York City students from under-resourced communities intensive after-school and summer academic classes, transformational cultural experiences, secondary school, and college guidance, a vibrant internship program, and robust support system. TEAK students earn admission/financial aid at our Nation’s most prestigious academic institutions and graduate from them determined to make an impact on communities in need of their contributions and leadership.
The TEAK Fellowship is seeking experienced middle and high school teachers to teach Writing, Pre-Algebra, and Reading during its 2023 Summer Institute. Instructors will work collaboratively as part of teaching teams responsible for providing the curriculum structure established by TEAK. This summer, instructors will teach approximately 2-3 sections of ~15 students four times a week, Monday – Thursday, from July 5 – August 9 at The Browning School in Manhattan.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach 2-3 sections of rising 7th or 9th graders July through August 2023.
- Provide classroom supervision and one hour of instruction Monday – Thursday.
- Attend instructor orientation June 28 and 29 at The Browning School.
- Attend faculty meetings once a week on Wednesday during the summer.
- Participate in a plus 1 assignment (run a club, go on field trips, monitor lunch/recess/study hall) during the summer.
- Use Google Classroom and assign between 30-40 minutes of homework daily. Collect and grade Fellow homework.
- Provide midterm and final grades, including writing student comments.
